Rotary Race League Guidelines :
- All race league paddlers,
steersperson, callers, coaches are required to complete a Rotary Dragon
Boat Waiver form prior to getting on a dragon boat.
- Team rosters may change at the
discretion of the Rotary Race League Organizing Committee in order to
balance the team’s competitiveness.
- Each team will race two 300
meter races per Monday night from May 01, 2006 up to and including June
26, 2006.
- A member of the Rotary Race
League Organizing Committee will line up the boats at the start line and
announce the start of each race.
- A member of the Rotary Race
League Organizing Committee will determine the finish of the races by line
of site.
- 10 points will be allotted to
the winner of each race.
- 5 points will be allotted to
the second place winner of each race.
- 0 points will be allotted to
teams that cannot compete or do not finish the race.
- In the event of a tie, both
teams will receive 7.5 points
- All points allotted throughout
race league season (May 01, 2006 to June 26, 2006) will be accumulated on
June 26, 2005 for each team. The
team standings will be determined by the number of points they have.
- A minimum of 12 paddlers are
required for a boat to compete in a race.
The minimum number of paddlers can be fulfilled with anyone in
attendance that is a member of the race league (from other teams).
- A maximum of 20 paddlers per
boat can compete in a race. There
is no minimum number of women or number of men.
- Teams that have less then 12
paddlers may practice during their scheduled times during the race league
season.
- The Rotary Race League
Organizing Committee may, at any time, cancel Race League practices and
races (due to inclement weather).
Any points allotted to teams that have already raced during that
evening / night will be forfeited.
(Example: 3 races have
completed, lightening is witnessed by a Rotary Race League Organizing
Committee representative, the last race is cancelled, and then no points
will be allotted to those teams that competed in the first 3 races.)
- Coaches and steerspersons will
be assigned each evening to your team by the Rotary Race League Organizing
Committee.
- It will be the responsibility
of the team manager to ensure the team has enough people to compete each
evening.
- All members should be down on
the island, ready to load into their boat 15 minutes prior to their
scheduled practice start time.
- All discrepancies should be
written out in a document no less then 5000 words and mailed to: “Don’t
You Have Anything Better To Do, P.O. Box 000, Coldhere, Alaska” Someone will not respond within 185
non-working days.
- All financial bribes to racing
officials will be gladly accepted.
All proceeds will go towards Stratford Rotary Community Projects.
Safety
Stuff:
- Each member should be able to
swim 100 meters while wearing light clothing.
- Each crew member is solely
responsible for his / her own safety at all times while engaging in
activities relating to practicing and racing in dragon boats
- Personal Flotation Devises
(PFD’s) are mandatory for all practices and races, no inflatable PFD’s
will be allowed.
- All equipment used during the
practice and races will be returned intact. The replacement cost or repair of such equipment will be
charged to the responsible member should negligence be determined.
